November 2011 SCARC Meeting

The next meeting of the Story County Amateur Radio Club will be at 7:30 pm, Thursday, November 3, 2011, at the 4-H building on the southwest corner of 13th Street and Stange Road in Ames (but actually off of Wanda Daley Road)..

The program for the November SCARC meeting will be a video about the 2011 DXpedition to the South Orkney Islands in the Antarctic.

The video was filmed and produced by 9V1YC, James Brooks. James is a professional and the quality of the video is excellent.

The video begins with discussion and questions relating to the costs of such
DXpeditions to the rarest DX entities. We meet the captain and crew of the ship that took the team to the location and helped them set up. The filming includes stunning views of Antarctic scenery and wildlife and of course the operation itself.
