The Story County Amateur Radio Club is hosting a field operating event during the 2019 Iowa QSO Party on September 21 from 9 AM to 9 PM at the Moore Memorial Park (3050 Northridge Parkway in north Ames).

Location: Moore Memorial Park Gazebo. This is just about a hundred yards south of where the August picnic was hosted. It's got electricity and plenty of large trees.
Contest information: We will operate as a single transmitter, multi-operator, standard power, bonus station for the QSO party.
Equipment: I'll have an OCF dipole set up between the two cottonwoods, and I'll have the power/transceiver/tuner/feedline all set up and (hopefully) good to go by contest start at 9:00 AM. I've got some fallback equipment in case of issues like dead outlets at the gazebo, but hopefully it won't come to that point.
One piece of equipment that has room for improvement would be a logging PC. I have one, but it's pretty terrible in almost every way. If anybody has a laptop with N1MM they could donate for the day, and will be there prior to start, it would be a nice improvement.
Setup: If anybody is free to help with setup, it would be greatly appreciated. I'll probably be over there sometime between 6:00 AM and 7:00 AM to start launching antenna lines and working towards a functional station.
Food: Nothing formally planned, but I'll bring a bag of charcoal and try to stake a claim on one of the grills, so if you bring something there should be a way to heat it up.
I'm not going to worry about scheduling operator slots or anything like that. I'll be there all day to hold down the fort and make sure we stay on-air, and between talking to passers-by, operating, logging, and any random mid-day station tweaks I'm sure we'll be able to keep ourselves occupied.
Hope this answers a few questions - if you have any more, I should see them on the w0yl email reflector at this point.
73 and looking forward to the contest!
